The Pointe at SIU
Located in Carbondale, Southern Illinois University is home to approximately 32,000 students. The campus features a mix of residential and academic buildings, with many modern amenities to keep students active and healthy.
The main campus is surrounded by a number of parks and green areas, with paths connecting all major buildings. More heavily trafficked routes are illuminated at night, as a safety feature for students.
In addition to the numerous physical facilities, the university is home to a variety of cultural and social activities. The Steel Bridge and Concrete Canoe Team competes in national competitions for students from all majors, while the Sculpture Garden hosts various art exhibits throughout the year.
Students also have access to numerous student-related services and resources, including the Undergraduate Admissions Office, Graduate School, Financial Aid Office, University Housing, Career Development Center, Student Multicultural Resource Center, Registrar, Bursar, and the Dean of Students Office. Additionally, the Student Health Center and its partner community partners provide a range of medical clinics, pharmacy services, wellness resources, sports medicine, and physical therapy, a psychiatry clinic, and counseling and psychological services.
Convenient Location
The oh-so-hip Carbondale area is home to many great restaurants, coffee shops, and a few must-see attractions such as the Saluki Stadium. While this may be a small town, the quality of life is top notch and the proximity to Chicago is well worth the commute.

Fitness Center
Evergreen Park Carbondale IL offers a fitness center to accommodate guests’ needs. The facility is open 24 hours a day and is accessible to residents of the various residence halls with their valid SIUE ID card. The facility features a selection of cardiovascular equipment and other supplemental fitness accessories. It also includes a TV with a cable entertainment package.
Evergreen Park in Carbondale IL is one of the best places to take advantage of outdoor activities in Illinois. It has playground equipment, natural areas, hiking/walking, fishing, pavilions for gatherings, parking, picnicking, and restrooms. In addition, the park was recently awarded a state grant to make accessibility improvements. The money was awarded by the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and will be used to replace bathrooms, pave roads and parking lots and add sidewalks to make the park more accessible. The funding is part of the Governor’s Rebuild Illinois Program. This initiative is at the heart of the state’s historic $45 billion capital plan.

During the warmer months, Carbondale IL is home to this public water park. Itโs a great place for kids to burn some energy while also having a blast. The park features an eight-lane lap pool, a leisure pool, and a kidsโ play area, including a slide, a lazy river, and interactive spray equipment.
The pool area at Evergreen Park is the perfect place for an afternoon of sun and fun. Itโs a beautiful spot to enjoy the scenery, and it has been recently paved and updated. The park is a popular place to picnic and is home to a 135-acre lake thatโs a popular fishery.
